About Karny
Karny is a well-known Calligraphy artist, specializing in creating custom-made Ketubah (Ketubas, Ketubot) for wedding and anniversary, Haftarah (Haftarot) for Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah, Family tree, Blessing for the home, Baby birth certificates / Baby Naming, and other Judaic Art.
Karny was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, where she worked as a drafts-person and designer with some of the well known architects in Israel.
Karny took art classes in Israel, and in Toronto at the Koffler Center for the Arts, Architecture and Design at Ryerson University, Design and Computer Application at Humber College, and studied Calligraphy with some of the best known Calligraphers in North America and Europe.
Karny is a past-president of the Calligraphic Arts Guild of Toronto, the Israeli Artists Group of Toronto, a Signature member of the Watercolour Society of Toronto, and a member of the Canadian Book Artists and Book Binders Guild.
Karny's art was displayed in many juried exhibitions, between which: The International Juried Calligraphy Exhibition - "Vision of the Spirit", in Washington National Cathedral, Washington D.C., USA. "AlphaMark", international juried exhibition which travels the world from 1999-2001. Karny had one-person shows, and received an Honourable Mention at a juried exhibition. Karny got the Woolfitz award, and the Papeterie St. Armand award at the international "Art of the Book" Exhibitions which were touring Canada. Karny was commissioned to do the front cover of the first issue of "The Israeli Magazine", the cover of "Beth Tikvah Sisterhood Magazine" and is included in the book ABC CANADA, a who's who of Calligraphers of Canada and her art was chosen to be printed in the AlphaMark 2001-2002 Calendar.
Lately Karny started creating unique jewelery .
Her Calligraphic artwork as well as her watercolour paintings and jewelery are in private collections worldwide.
